e-Learning and the New Zealand Curriculum

e-Learning has considerable potential to support the teaching approaches outlined in the NZC 2007 under effective pedagogy. In these sessions we will explore how teachers and students can access quality digital content including digital resources and learning objects that have been developed specifically to support students' learning of key concepts and skills detailed in the curriculum.

Digital Content and Effective Pedagogy

"The design of learning objects are based on the most recent research into how children learn and how teachers can facilitate learning. They provide opportunities for multi-modal learning (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic ) not normally possible in the standard classroom because of complexity, safety, time or cost"(The Learning Federation).
e-Story: The Monster Choir Penny Thomson teaches a year 3 class at Douglas Park School, Masterton. She used the ‘Monster Choir’ learning objects to assist her students learn about repeating patterns as part of her mathematics programme.
